These offer activities such as quizzes and karaoke, sporting events, and celebrations for holidays such as St. George's Day, St. Patrick's Day, King's Day, and, of course, Bastille Day. Santa Pola is a few kilometers by bus or car from Gran Alacant. The fortified town of Santa Pola hosts exhibitions, medieval markets, weddings, and holiday events. It was recently used as the setting for a film about Cervantes' captivity. Just a 5-minute walk away is the port area where you can have a drink, enjoy Spanish cuisine, or stroll around the many boats and yachts moored there. Just 15 minutes from Gran Alacant is the cosmopolitan city of Alicante, ideal for a day spent. For those interested in history, there are two Moorish-era castles and the MARQ Museum with several exhibitions. Alicante is also home to the European Intellectual Property and License Administration (EIPA) and the "Ciudad de la Luz," a complex dedicated to cinema.
